A recent assignment I had for a class was a business on location with flash.  I photographed the owner of the new Boutique in Randleman, K K Mae's.

Bridal Shoot On Location

In my wedding portraiture class we had an assignment to do a bridal on location photo shoot.  Here are a couple images from the shoot.

This week we needed another 2 blog posts for our digital imaging class.

This image was taken at the beach a couple weeks ago right around sunset.

Beach Birds

While at the beach a few weeks ago, these birds were everywhere.  One may think they never get fed.  I'm sure their bellies were full after my crew left.

Old School

Today RCC had their Retro Day.  A lot of old cars were brought in for show.  This is an image I took of one of the cars.

Beach Time Fun

This past weekend one of my sisters and myself decided to take our five kids to the beach.  Trying to get a shot of all five kids is near to impossible while having them all look straight.  They had a great time!

Mushroom Mania

While at the beach this past weekend I came across this family of mushrooms just hanging around!  They grabbed my attention at first sight!

Flower Power

The streets of Asheboro are filled with many things to see.  My last walk mainly consisted of fruit and flowers.  I love how the green background makes the red in the flowers pop!

Corn Pre Can

This week's blog entry was left up to the student.  While at the local farmer's market scouting out different things to photograph I stumbled upon this box of corn!  Nothing says great food better than fresh crisp corn, not from a can!

Summer Fun

I had the pleasure of doing a family photo shoot with the most amazing family.  This little peanut really loved being in front of the camera.

Metal and Lighting

For a previous class project we had to light a metal object.  I chose to use my retro strainer.  Here's the final project.

Americana

For my Americana photograph I decided to use this image that I shot at a local park.  This is a traveling baseball team for 10-12 year old boys.  I love the innocence of the two players as they wait for the opposing team to get up to bat.

HDR

This week we have a project due in one of our classes where we take an image and edit it with an HDR effect.  I of course decided to take my retro barbie car and see how HDR would work  with this photograph.  I felt that the photograph turned out well.  What do you think?

Tilt shift lens!

While at the courthouse the other day we were able to test out the tilt shift lenses.  Love them.

Meet Melissa

One of my bestest buddies came to visit from Utah.  While she was here we did a mini photo shoot.  It was great being able to see her and catch up!

Simplicity

Simplicity is something I feel we all need.  Being able to look at all the simple things in life and be grateful for what we have.  Never underestimate the little things in life that come together as a whole to make this world a wonderful place.

Available Lighting Assignment

For our lighting class this week we were supposed to photograph something smaller than a suitcase, yet larger than a soda can.  Being a huge fan of everything "vintage" I decided to take my precious first original Barbie Car that was made and use it for my subject.  Too bad the real Ken wasn't in it to pick me up to take me for a ride.

Meet David!

This is David.  His parents allowed me to photograph him for our 36 faces project.  He was so funny.  He loved being behind the camera.  He looked at his mom before I took the first shoot and said, "Hey do I do this for the picture?" He held up his middle finger and smiled like a champ.  I nearly fell backwards in hysterics.  Of course both his parents were completely humiliated.  Like they always say, children learn from their parents... Way to go mom and dad!

Environmental Indoor Portrait w/ Fill Flash

This past week we were supposed to find a stranger for an Environmental Indoor Portrait w/ Fill Flash.  This little boy Ezekiel came up to the hair salon for a haircut and I couldn't resist getting his photo!

Refreshing....Diet Coke

Last week in our lighting class we were put into groups of 3 or 4 people, told to get 1 can per team out of a bucket that our instructor had gathered for us.  After choosing our "can" we were sent out into the great wide open with only being told to "light" the can.  We had about an hour and a half to do so.  The photograph above is one of the shots from this assignment.  Not only do I LOVE Diet Coke, but I get a feeling of how refreshing it is when I take a gander at this photo.

Park & Rec Picture 101

This week for our digital imaging class we are supposed to submit a photo that describes "Park and Recreation."  After attending a Little League Tournament I decided to use this photograph for the assignment.

Stranger Danger... 36 new faces!

Coming up in small format class we will be taking photographs of 36 different people.  I decided to do a prelim shot with my niece at her dance recital this past weekend.  Working with children at times could be referred to .."being pecked to death by chickens."  This however was not the case here.

Typ-o(h my goodness)-graphy

Our project this week was based on typography. To try to create this I took photos of pre-existing letters that were found on signs, storefronts, trucks and cars. This is all I have so far since I didn't have anyone to take care of my three boys other than myself.  When I got home I tried to apply what little I was taught in class.  Come to find out, I'm not a young buck like 80% of the class and this computer stuff doesn't come easy to me. I tried to upload what I had before the 10 o'clock time limit but for some reason I couldn't do that either.  Needless to say, I wanted to pull my hair out, strand by strand.  Here's the pre-final product!

Manic Monday

In less than 2 hours Manic Monday will be gracing us with her ever so lovely self.  The sound of feet walking as fast as possible will be heard aloud throughout the halls of Randolph Community College.  Another day, another project!
